Hey Guys, Caleb Here. For my last post I wanted to go out with a bang. So, for this post I will talking about the Hip/Hop Industry during the year 2016. 2016 consisted of some of the greatest albums, songs, new artists, and best hits of my lifetime, all happening in the same year.  First off, we are going to talk about and discover the  2016 XXL Freshman Cypher . This video is a freestyle compilation that comes out each year, with Hip/Hop "rookies". Except 2016 is STACKED. The rookies of this year consisted of  Kodak Black ,  21 Savage ,  Lil Uzi Vert ,  Lil Yachty , and  Denzel Curry . All of these artists are known as superstars in today's game, so for them to all be on the same Freshman Cypher is absolutely unheard of. Each artist in this video showcased their flow, lyrics, freestyle, and all around vibe.  In 2016 we also got powerhouse albums, names consisting of  Drake ,  Travis Scott ,  Rihanna ,  Fetty Wap , Future , and...

October 28th

Michael back everyone. So, does everyone remember earlier this week when we were talking about duos? Well we just got another one today. Drake and 21 savage have announced their new collab album "Her Loss" dropping October 28th. Both of the artist tried to pull a Spiderman: No Way Home  where  Andrew Garfield  denied being in the same movie as  Tom Holland  and  Tobey Maguire . Yes, in terms of the rap game this is an event of Spiderman magnitude. Neither of these two are new to collabs, they've even done some tracks together. Let's get into it and check the track record.  Drake (Left) with 21 Savage (Right) When it comes to Drake and collabs you have to talk about Future . While they have collabed on many tracks, everyone remembers their album " What a time to be alive. " Featuring tracks such as " Jumpman " and  "Diamonds Dancing."  Since then Drake has collaborated with other artists. Such as Lil Baby , PartyNextDoor , Tems , Rick ...

Everyone Loves a Duo

Image
Hello everyone, Michael back this week and I was think of what to do for our blog this week. New music maybe? Take a look at some throwbacks? Perhaps. I took a break from brainstorming and began scrolling Tiktok when I heard  "No Church In The Wild"  by  Jay-Z and Kanye West , and then i thought to myself "everyone loves a duo." So today I'm going to be talking about some of our favorite duos. Two rules that we're going to follow is that they must have at least three songs together and we're naming one duo per artist. So while Kanye has collaborated with many artist, we are naming one duo for him. First up is the duo that started this idea, Kanye and Jay-Z. Originally starting off as only a producer for Jay-Z on his album  "The Blueprint."  But soon enough Kanye started focusing more on actually rapping, so he made his first album  "The College Dropout"  which featured Jay-z on  "Never Let Me Down"  and  "Last Call....

Music In My Community

Image
Todays Blog, I will be talking about artists who are loved around my community. Asking my friends and family who their favorite artists are. Then, talking about the most common answers in this post.  The most common artist that everyone loved, amongst who I asked, was  Ed Sheeran . Ed Sheeran broke onto the music industry with his hit song  The A Team . Since then, he continued to be one of the great pop artists not only currently, but ever. Creating great albums such as  X  and  = . Also, creating songs with hall of fame artists like  Elton John  and  Lil Baby . He is by far a household name, and I can almost guarantee each and every one of you has heard and Ed Sheeran song at one point in your lifetime.  Another Most common artist I received, was  Kanye West . Although Kanye is in the heat of social media currently, for his repetitive and uncalled for comments on social media, many still love and desire his hit albums and music. A...

Underappreciated Artists Pt. 2

Image
In this weeks blog, I will be going along with the narrative of underappreciated artists, and show you my top picks who follow under that category. My first artist is The Kid Laori . He definitely classifies as a mainstream artist, so that is not why I would say he is underappreciated. It's because of the constant hate and backlash he gets. Saying that "he repeats the same flows", "all his songs sound the same", or "He makes songs just to go big on Tik Tok", for seemingly in my eyes, no reason. The Kid Laroi is the perfect "relate to" artist, first breaking onto the industry with Let Her Go . This song became extremely relevant, and present on many playlists. With this song he then created a hit song with Lil Tecca , named Diva . These hits put him onto the scene, leading to his hit albums such as Savage and F*ck Love 3 The Kid Laroi stays prevelant in my playlists and love for music, and continues to create amazing songs and features. The ...

Underappreciated Artists

Image
Today on our  Instagram page  we took a look at some artists we felt were underappreciated and in this blog post we're going to be going more in depth for some of the artist that we're mentioned on the post.  The first artist we're going to be taking a look at is  Don Toliver . His first mainstream appearance came from  Travis Scott's   "Can't Say"  in which he had a guest feature on. He immediately grew in popularity after this and released another song  "No Idea"  which exploded on Tiktok. Since then he's released two projects,  "Heaven and Hell"  and  "Life of a Don."  Which have helped him gain popularity but he still has yet to reach the mainstream status that his mentor Travis has. Some songs I would recommend are  "Way Bigger" ,  "Cardigan" , and  "After Party." Don Toliver Another person who hasn't gained the attention of mainstream media is  Spill Tab , the Los Angelas based arti...

Album Reviews Pt. 2

Image
Last week we gave you guys  Caleb's top three albums of the year and he came with some great picks. So it's only right that this week I gave you guys my top three picks from this year as well. Similar to Caleb, I have interest in a lot of musical genres. Some of my favorites to listen to are Rap , R&B , Pop , Jazz , and Rock . Some of my favorite artists are J. Cole , Kendrick Lamar , Willow , Spill Tab , Smino , Frank Ocean , and Tems . Now that you got to know a little bit of my music tastes let's get into my top three picks this year.  Starting with the third album on this list, we're going to be taking a look at The Weekend's " Dawn FM ." With the second album in a current trilogy we are experiencing, Dawn FM takes The Weekend's catalogue to another level. The concept of trying to give advice to your younger self through the lessons you've learned is compelling. And using  Jim Carrey  on the album brings this album life. He makes referenc...
