Album Review

For My Post This week, we are going to dive into my top 3 Albums of the 2022 Year, giving you the album, information, and my favorite song on each track. My musical interests involve rap/hip-hop, R&B, Pop, and acoustic. My musical taste really has no limit or range, it’s as simply put that if something sounds good to me, I will listen and love the song. My Favorite Artists are Future, Dermot Kennedy, Kanye, The Kid Laroi, Kid Cudi, Jack Harlow, Ed Sheeran, and Giveon. You might find these artists a lot on this page, and especially in my posts. Music can bring everyone and anything together, and I hope this blog can play some part in the collection of a community.

To get right into my 3 albums of the year, I’m going to start from bottom to top, giving us my #5. In this Case My 5th best album of the year is “Come Home The Kids Miss You” By Jack Harlow. Jack Harlow Is fairly New to being big the industry (Within the last 5 years) and this album does great measures to confidently put him right in mainstream. This album has billboard songs such as “First Class” and “Churchill Downs” Featuring Drake. The album itself is great for a house party, listening to in the car, and even when lounging around really anywhere. The vibes range from chill, to upbeat, and even rowdy. One big thing for him is that his flow can sound similar from song to song, but in this album, he does a great job of switching that up and showing us just a glimpse of how diverse his music can be. My favorite on this is “Dua Lipa”

#2 Was very difficult for me to say the least. I was drawn between choosing either my 2 or 1, as I love both albums to an extreme. After consideration, I can confidently say that GIVÄ’ON’s “Give Or Take” sits at #2. Simply put, this album can easily put you in your thoughts and feelings. Make you miss the girl you once had, or even wish you never had her. So many songs on this album can be relatable to anyone in anyway truthfully. The hits on this album include “Scarred”, “Tryna Be”, “Make You Mine”, “Lost Me”, and “Another Heartbreak”. If you told me, you didn’t know or haven’t heard about this album, I would honestly be surprised as it was trending on all social media, and especially Tik Tok. Two very interesting factors that put this album so high on my list, are that this album is mainly just him. No heavy hitting features, and no other main vocal. It’s just him and the studio. It’s refreshing to see an album like this nowadays since every artist is looking to get a big name on their track to increase media and listens. The other interest is that he describes the album as “The album is me having a conversation with my mom, and we’re just catching up”. This is heavy hitting for me, as in times of my life I see me drifting from my mom, and we have these catching up conversations. I find myself relating some of those conversations with my mom to these songs. Now, My Favorite for this album is “Another Heartbreak”

Lastly, my #1 Is “I NEVER LIKED YOU” By Future. As easy as I can state it, this album just hits. It has everything and literally every feature. Almost every song on this album hit the charts. It debuted atop the US Billboard 200, earning 222,000 album-equivalent units in the first week, including a nomination for Album Of The Year at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Future never fails to disappoint and truly got everything right about this album. The top songs on this album were “PUFFIN ON ZOOTIES”, “WAIT FOR U” With Drake, “LOVE YOU BETTER”, “I’M ON ONE” With Drake again, “LIKE ME”, and “WORST DAY” the single, released before the full album as the album teaser. This album is perfect for the party environment, and songs from it still sit at the top of my playlists to this day. Future proved in this album that he is still at the top of his game, and the rap game in general. Providing heavy lyrics, features, producers, beats, and the album cover is just great. My favorite song on this album isn’t one of the fan favorites, but I strongly recommend you give it a listen.
